Let me take you to my side of the world where it is currently 40 °C and where a minimal, crisp and white design can cool you down. The Almyra hotel is a design hotel located on the south west shore of Cyprus in the town of Paphos. There you sleep within earshot of the Big Blue's melody in an immaculate kingdom.
This terraced architecture gradually takes you down to the sea through an organized labyrinth of lounges and pools where raw and authentic materials reign. Parisian designer Joelle Pleot utilizes natural materials, glass, and Carrara marble to create a calming effect in the rooms. The dramatic dark pool made of Italian slates is my key feature for this place. It is dramatic, yet relaxing and zen, allowing you to indulge into the taste of the sea, which by the way is what Almyra means in Greek.
The main characteristics of the relaxed Mediterranean style are lightness, airiness, simplicity, straight lines and soft colours. It is all about a neutral color scheme with a hint of blue enhanced by the Mediterranean sea in the background and the year round blue sky.
